By invitation of the German Centre for Research and Innovation India (DWIH), Prof. Dr. Alexander Brem, Chair of Technology Management, participated in a two days seminar on Frugal Innovations in Bangalore. Together with colleagues from the Technical University of Hamburg (TUHH), both days were set up with a combination of research talks, and dedicated practitioners who invented frugal innovations.

If weekly working hours are increased by as little as one hour, this can have a negative impact on workers. Even a slight increase such as this is enough for workers to take a poorer view of their own health and go to the doctor considerably more often. The study does not give any indication of the optimum working hours. It does, however, give an insight into what consequences even just a slight change can have.

FAU offers more than 260 degree programmes. For international students there is a range of Master’s degree programmes that are taught exclusively or partly in English. When it comes to innovation, Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg (FAU) is a world leader. According to the latest ranking from the media concern Reuters, the University is still at the top in Germany, and ranked at an excellent 31st position worldwide. This is a considerable improvement over last year.

The lecture period has begun and FAU would like to welcome all new Bachelor’s and Master’s students to the University. We hope you get off to a great start. The first-year students’ welcome event will take place on Thursday 18 October 2018 from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. in Heinrich-Lades-Halle in Erlangen.

The 2018 Shanghai Ranking has been published – FAU is among the world’s top 100 universities in six subjects. Energy Science and Engineering and Telecommunication Engineering were ranked among the top 50. Seven subjects at FAU ranked among the top 10 on a national level.

The School of Business and Economics is happy to announce that Dr. Jonas Egerer and Duygu Ozdemir were awarded with the Emerging Talents Initiative (ETI) fund. The Emerging Talents Initiative offers support to excellent young researchers by providing them with an opportunity to develop scientific independence and establish themselves in their field of research.

Prof. Dr. Alexander Brem, Owner of the Chair of Technology Management, has been appointed IEEE Senior Member. In receiving this special honor, he is joining a selected few. Less than 10% of all members achieve this level of professional recognition. IEEE is the world’s largest technical professional organization dedicated to advancing technology for the benefit of humanity.
