If weekly working hours are increased by as little as one hour, this can have a negative impact on workers. Even a slight increase such as this is enough for workers to take a poorer view of their own health and go to the doctor considerably more often. The study does not give any indication of the optimum working hours. It does, however, give an insight into what consequences even just a slight change can have.
FAU offers more than 260 degree programmes. For international students there is a range of Master’s degree programmes that are taught exclusively or partly in English. Prof. Dr. Veronika Grimm was appointed to the Advisory Council for Consumer Affairs at the Federal Ministry of Justice and Consumer Protection. On the basis of scientific findings and taking into account practical experience, the Advisory Council for Consumer Affairs supports the Federal Ministry of Justice and Consumer Protection in shaping consumer policy.
When it comes to innovation, Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg (FAU) is a world leader. According to the latest ranking from the media concern Reuters, the University is still at the top in Germany, and ranked at an excellent 31st position worldwide. This is a considerable improvement over last year.

The 2018 Shanghai Ranking has been published – FAU is among the world’s top 100 universities in six subjects. Energy Science and Engineering and Telecommunication Engineering were ranked among the top 50. Seven subjects at FAU ranked among the top 10 on a national level.

With Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg celebrating its 275th anniversary this year, the Schlossgartenfest on 30 June is going to be very special. New this year – tickets are available to the general public and not just to those associated with the University. Guests will even have the opportunity to try the FAU anniversary beer ‘Helles Köpfchen’ (bright spark).
