The aim of EELISA, the European Engineering Learning Innovation & Science Alliance, is to train a new generation of students across various countries to use intelligent technologies and sustainable solutions to tackle the current global challenges. FAU is one of the universities involved in the project.
The lecture period begins today and the Nuremberg School of Business, Economics and Society (WiSo) therefore wishes you a successful winter semester 2021/2022 and all first-year students a good start to their studies! Furthermore: WiSo invites all students starting a Bachelor's or Master's program to the official first semester welcome today!
In addition to the official welcome, the event also offers a broad supporting program. Especially the virtual WiSo-Infofair offers contact to company partners, initiatives and institutions at the booth. From afwn to HUK, from Nürnberger Versicherung to the Uni-BIB ... they all have lots of information for the new students!
New life, new friends, new city: To ensure that first-year students at WiSo Nuremberg quickly feel at home, there will once again be a big freshers' welcome on October 18, 2021. The digital welcome, including an information fair, will take place in the morning. In the afternoon, the WiSo courtyard will offer a beer garden feeling and guided tours of the city.
The lecture period for winter semester 2021/22 will start soon and FAU is returning to face-to-face teaching. This is being made possible by the ‘3G rule’ in the new general hygiene guidance for universities in Bavaria, which allows teaching to take place on campus. Proof of Covid-19 vaccination, testing or recovery (3G rule) is required at FAU and FAUWiSo.
In the international Times Higher Education World University Rankings, FAU was again listed among the top 200 universities worldwide for 2022. The University performed well in all areas of the ranking, but did particularly well in the area of research, where it was ranked at place 156, and in industry income, where it ranked again at place 85.
The new Shanghai university ranking has been released. In comparison to other German universities, FAU has moved up one place to number 15. On the international level, it has come in at place 248, an improvement of five places. Compared to last year, FAU improved particularly in the categories of citations per researcher and highly cited researchers.
Innovators solve problems with unconventional ideas: WiSo alumni Josef Schütz, Alireza Derakhshan and Farzaneh Ahmadloo, founders of Grino Water Solutions, were voted as FAU Innovator 2021 in the Alumni category. The award will be presented at the FAU Dies academicus on 4 November.
For everyone over 16 years of age, there is now the possibility to get vaccinated against COVID-19 quickly. This also applies to people who do not live in the city of Nuremberg, but are only staying here for the moment. Vaccinations at the vaccination center are now also possible without an appointment.
WiSo sees good reasons to enter the new semester with great optimism. Against this backdrop, FAU WiSo is planning to largely return to face-to-face teaching for the winter semester 2021/2022, on-site at the Nuremberg City Campus, not on the Internet. This is because teaching, learning and research need direct exchange, personal encounters between students, and contact with lecturers.
