Curriculum vitae
Almut Schilling-Vacaflor studied Sociology, Cultural and Social Anthropology and International Development at the University of Vienna. She completed her doctoral degree in 2009 in the field of legal anthropology and political anthropology. From 2010 to 2017, she worked as a postdoc and research project leader at the Institute for Latin American Studies at the German Institute for Global and Area Studies (GIGA) on resource extraction, participation, environmental governance and indigenous peoples’ rights in the Andean countries. Schilling-Vacaflor then researched and taught at the University of Osnabrück on global supply chains and sustainability governance, with a focus on Brazil.
Since 2023, Prof. Almut Schilling-Vacaflor has held the Chair of International Business, Society and Sustainability at Friedrich-Alexander-University Erlangen-Nürnberg. Her research focuses on sustainability governance, business and human rights, global supply chains, environmental justice and resource extraction as well as agricultural production in Latin America.
