Prof. Dr. Dirk Holtbrügge

Curriculum vitae
Dirk Holtbrügge studied business administration, economics and social science at the University of Dortmund from 1983 to 1989, and received his doctoral degree (1995) and his habilitation (2000) from the same university. In 2001, he was appointed professor of international management at RWTH Aachen. Professor Holtbrügge has been Chair of International Management at the School of Business and Economics at Friedrich-Alexander-University Erlangen-Nürnberg (FAU) since 2002. He declined professorships at universities in Aachen, Berlin, Hamburg and Lahr. Since 1995, he has spent numerous teaching and research stays abroad in countries including China, France, India, Japan, Russia, South Africa, the United Kingdom, and the USA.
His main research interests are management in multinational corporations, intercultural management, management in emerging markets (China, India, Russia), international human resources management, corporate social and environmental responsibility, and internationalization in SMEs. He has published seven books, eight edited volumes and more than 70 articles in refereed international journals. He is dean of international programs and contributed to the design of the MBA program at the School of Business and Economics. He has large experience in executive education and works as a consultant for firms in Germany and abroad. He was honored as one of the leading business economists in Germany, Austria and Switzerland in the Handelsblatt ranking in 2010, 2012 and 2014 and in the Wirtschaftswoche ranking in 2019 and 2022.
