Research-oriented teaching
Integrating research and teaching
The aim of research-oriented teaching at the School of Business, Economics and Society is to promote research careers at an early stage, while also providing students with the qualifications they need for expert and managerial roles in other areas of society.
Bachelor’s degree level students are introduced to academic methods and acquire basic research skills as early as possible through research-oriented seminars and courses.
The School’s research-oriented Master’s degree programs include specific research seminars, draw on current research findings and provide students with an opportunity to conduct a small research project as part of their Master’s thesis. Various other lectures, seminars, tutorials and colloquia on offer enable students to develop specific skills, such as in giving presentations and taking part in discussions of academic content.
All of these skills are essential for dealing with situations where practical solutions to complex problems need to be developed on the basis of academic knowledge and reasoning.
