Finance, Auditing, Controlling, Taxation (FACT)
General Program Information
The FACT Master’s degree program is a full-time interdisciplinary degree program in finance, auditing, controlling and taxation that lasts two years.
The degree program builds on solid basic knowledge of these subjects and enables students to choose their own specializations according to their interests. This is made possible through a wide range of specialization options with an interdisciplinary focus that students can combine in a variety of ways.
The Master’s degree program also helps students to prepare for the state examinations for tax advisors. Students acquire academic knowledge with a high level of practical relevance. Traditional teaching methods are complemented by a range of case studies, projects, field trips and workshops with partners in industry.

This degree program is taught in German. Therefore, a good knowledge of German is an essential prerequisite to successfully completing the degree program. Proof of German language proficiency at DSH 2 level or equivalent is required for admission.
Course content
The FACT degree program provides students with a comprehensive education in the areas of finance, auditing, controlling and taxation. This core element is complemented by a range of elective courses that focus on methodological knowledge and related subjects.
The Master’s degree program is a full-time program that lasts four semesters. The program may be started in the winter semester or the summer semester. It consists of compulsory modules (30 ECTS), specialisation modules (60 ECTS) and a Master’s thesis (30 ECTS).

Competencies
During the degree program students develop a profile of transferable skills that includes:
- the ability to apply the knowledge that they have learned and to make their own calculations and interpretations
- the ability to identify complex problems and to analyze them on the basis of their experience
- the ability to identify errors, develop new approaches, and provide suggestions for improvement and explain the reasons for them
- analytical skills, a structured approach and the ability to work in a goal-oriented manner
- knowledge and skills for professional careers or preparing to pursue a doctoral degree.

The degree program aims for graduates to acquire the qualifications needed to work in the areas of controlling, banking and insurance, investment, risk management, finance, management, investment banking, accounting, tax consulting, business consulting and auditing.

The FACT degree program is aimed at all students who are interested in an academic education that will prepare them for careers in finance, auditing, controlling and taxation.
